The best part of PotBoss is settling up on your phone — no chasing cash. Here's how, in a couple of minutes.
01 Join the game
Get the app — scan the host's QR code, or open potboss.poker and add it to your home screen.
Make an account with your name and email.
Join your host's game — enter the passphrase they gave you.
Sign up for the night — tap Join This Event on the event they scheduled.
02 Set up how you get paid ★ do this first
So your winnings land straight in your phone instead of waiting on cash.
On the event screen, tap Set up how you get paid.
Enter your Venmo username and/or PayPal.me name — whichever you use. You can add both.
Tap Save. Done — the host can now send your winnings electronically.
Skip it and you'll be paid in cash
No handle on file just means the host pays you the old-fashioned way. Adding one takes ten seconds and makes payout instant.
03 Add funds — pay the host ★ the main event
Top up your balance so buy-ins and rebuys just come off it — no cash at the table.
Tap + Add funds and type an amount.
Tap Pay with Venmo or Pay with PayPal. Your wallet opens pre-filled — recipient, amount, and a reference note.
Send it to the host, right there in your wallet.
Your balance updates once the host confirms
It won't jump the instant you pay — the host checks their wallet and confirms it, then your balance goes up. That's normal, give it a minute.
On Android, the wallet may not pop open
If tapping "Pay with Venmo/PayPal" doesn't launch the app, the screen shows the handle, amount, and note with Copy buttons — paste them into Venmo/PayPal and pay by hand. Same result.
04 When you win
The host sends your prize; you just confirm it landed.
You'll see a note: “The Host sent you $__ via Venmo”.
Check your wallet, then tap I got it to confirm you received it.
05 Your balance
• Your balance is money the host is holding for you — top-ups you've added, plus any winnings you left on account.
• Buy-ins and rebuys come off it automatically. When it runs out, you're just paying cash again.
• Want it back? Ask the host to pay out your balance any time — cash or electronically.
06 Rebuys & add-ons
Bust or want more chips? Tap Request Rebuy (or Request Add-on) in your app — the host gets a heads-up and hands you chips. Or just tell them; either works.
07 Bounties
Only in knockout games — you'll see a Bounty amount listed with the buy-in.
• A bounty is a price on your head: you pay it, and whoever knocks you out collects it. Ask the host to add one — it's optional, so you're never charged just for buying in.
• It comes off your balance first, then it's cash, same as a buy-in. Once you've got one, your row shows an orange ✓ Bounty tag.
• Bounty money is held apart from the prize pool — it doesn't change what the winners get paid.
• Knocked someone out? You take their bounty chip and hand it to the host, who pays you in cash or adds it to your balance.
